two.1.4) Short description

Markham Vale is located within the Northeast of the County of Derbyshire, around junction 29a of the M1 motorway. Markham Vale Environment Centre (MVEC), c. NGR SK 4493 7182, is the administrative centre of the site.

The main component of this contract is to undertake the repetitive landscape maintenance operations that keep the site looking neat and tidy. These mainly comprise of regular cutting of a grass verges around all hard surfaced areas e.g. paths, roads etc. The annual trimming of hedges within winter months. Annual cutting of wildflower grassland verges in late autumn. Provision of gritting and snow clearance during cold weather season. Litter picking. In addition to the regular maintenance works this contract also has provision and a requirement for the contractor to undertake other landscape maintenance and repair work when instructed by the Contract Administrator. These may include fencing repairs, clearance of drainage infrastructure, tree felling, road sweeping, replacement of signage etc. to keep the site tidy, safe and functioning correctly
