Explanation:

There is only one piece of equipment that allows an operative to establish the connected phase and power status without having to connect to the network or enter a customer's property. The PIU also provides other functions that provides other information about our network. We would be unable to fulfil the business as usual ambitions without this product. There are no alternative providers who can offer an equivalent product.

As part of the requirements to gain funding though the Network Innovation Allowance process it is a prerequisite that there cannot be a solution already in place. This is also checked by other DNO's as part of the 10-day review process.
