This tender process is being conducted in order to procure the delivery of mortuary provision in relation to Stockport community deaths to the coronial district of Greater Manchester South. It does not constitute any guarantee that Stockport Council will award a contract for such services, and nothing shall bind the Council to accept the lowest or any tender.

The coronial district of Greater Manchester South, covers the three boroughs of Stockport, Trafford and Tameside. Stockport Council currently coordinates the resources to deliver the service on behalf of the three authorities. It is expected that the service will be delivered to the coronial district of Greater Manchester South, although the contract will be with Stockport Council as the lead authority.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Provide a public mortuary within the Coroner’s jurisdictional area where bodies can be stored and accessed as is deemed appropriate for the effective running of the Coroners service. The mortuary should be appropriately equipped and able to meet anticipated demand.

Provide a reliable and timely body transportation service between the proposed mortuary and Tameside General Hospital, or another location as required by the Coroner, for Post Mortem/Autopsy purposes. It is essential that bodies be transported as a result of an instruction that is issued up to 4pm Mon-Fri, to ensure post mortems can be completed in a timely manner.
