two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Lot 1 Supply of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)

The activated carbon shall be virgin, granular and of the agglomerated type, manufactured from bituminous coal.

The GAC shall be manufactured to the QA certification ISO 9001.

The GAC proposed shall be suitable for repeated reactivation with minimum reduction in the Iodine number and minimum alteration to its physical characteristics.

In accordance with the following BSEN:

• Granular activated carbon. Part 1: Virgin GAC - 12915 - 1: 2009

• Granular activated carbon. Part 2: Reactivated GAC - 12915 - 2: 2009

Supplier must ensure that the BSEN number is included on every delivery note.

The Goods must also be registered on the List of Approved Products for Use in Public Water Supply in the United Kingdom in accordance with Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) reg

The supplier must ensure that regenerated carbon is acid washed, prior to regeneration.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Lot 2: Supply of Powder Activated Carbon (PAC)

PAC shall be supplied in powdered form.:

The PAC shall be manufactured to the QA certification ISO 9001.

When dosed at concentration in water of less than 100mgl-1 in accordance with DWI Approved Product, the PAC shall be suitable for removal of contaminants including geosmin, 2-methylisoborneol 2MIB and MCPA,

In accordance with the following BSEN:

• Powdered activated carbon. 12903:2009

Supplier must ensure that the BSEN number is included on every delivery note.

a. PAC shall be delivered either by tanker or in bags, the details of which shall be agreed prior to supply to ensure correct fitting to feed hoppers of the Company’s dosing equipment.

• Where supplied in bags, these shall have maximum weight of 12.5 kg.

b. The Company require contaminants to be lower than the figures below after treatment:-

• Geosmin 5ng/l.

• 2-MIB 5ng/l.

• MCPA 25ng/l.
