Scope
Description
The current Naiad Stabiliser system onboard the Border Force 4207 patrol vessels are made up of a High Pressure Unit (HPU) with hydraulic pump, sea water cooling pump and 2 fins. The hydraulic pump circulates high pressure hydraulic oil to the fins which are mounted through the vessels hull underwater and reduces the rolling and rocking motion caused by waves, currents or wind.
• The current hydraulic pumps used on the stabiliser system onboard the Damen 4207 Cutters have been made obsolete and all existing spares have been depleted, a replacement pump with modification kit is required that will bolt onto our existing Naiad system equipment to keep stabiliser function onboard the cutters and ensure safe operation of the system and vessel when at sea.
• Naiad Dynamics is the original equipment manufacturer in the UK for the stabilizer control system and is in possession of the intellectual property and exclusive rights as OEM of the system used on the Damen 4207 Cutters. The services are not part of any catalogue, OGD framework or dynamic purchasing system.
• The use of Naiad Dynamics is to assure the serviceability of crucial systems on board our Cutters. Due to the current operating model and levels of usage OEM parts, systems and sub-assemblies should be used to service BF Cutters when a break down occurs. As a result, warranty claims both retrospective and in the future, are a main factor in ensuring that these systems are afforded the most reactive and comprehensive support available that is assured.
• Without the assured serviceability of these vessels, people and illicit goods may be successful in penetrating the coastline controls without being interdicted. Inability to deploy the vessel will significantly reduce the capability of BF Maritime Command to adequately protect the UK EEZ boundary. Introduction of a third-party suppliers would allow for technically unacceptable fluctuations in the standard of parts, labour and certification services required on these systems. If we did not use an OEM for this the reliability would drop and the likelihood of catastrophic failure would increase.
