Cancer Screening / This proposal plans to build on the outcomes of the current health inequality Community Research & Support Programme. Led by Healthwatch Islington, the programme is working with Diverse Communities Health Voice partners to gather views from minority ethnic communities and provide information regarding bowel and cervical cancer screening. The project provides an opportunity to listen to residents about barriers and access to screening services as well as provide health information and upskill local VCS community partners.

Findings from the diverse communities report in April 23 will be used to inform the design of a local intervention to promote understanding and awareness of the benefits of cancer screening, supporting prevention and early diagnosis. With Public Health and local voluntary partner expertise, the programme will be based on outreach, sharing information and raising awareness of screening programmes and recognising symptoms, specifically targeting high deprivation communities at high risk.
