Description
Since the last engagement event relating to the Unpaid Carers Services, some changes have been made to the upcoming tender.
We want to ensure that the market is made aware of the changes as soon as possible.
We received Cabinet approval on 28th January to:
• Extend the current contracts for adults and young carers by six months (to 30 September 2026).
• Delay and revise by six months the procurement of support for adult carers.
• Agree the revised model for adult carers support.
The 6-month extension is required to enable a robust procurement process to take place for the new adults carers contract.
The new model will introduce a single contract for core carers' services and transfer Carers Emergency Scheme (CES) and Carers Breaks packages to external providers under the existing GCC Health and Social Care Framework. This strategic approach will enable us to better meet the needs of unpaid carers now and into the future by improving flexibility, simplifying processes, strengthening crisis support, and enhancing carers' resilience and wellbeing while preventing service disruption.
