Psychological Support Services for Trainee Doctors and Dentists
The London and KSS Professional Development Team (PDT) for and on behalf of Health Education England (HEE) provides support for doctors and dentists in training, as well as for certain eligible categories of Nurses, Allied Health Professions, Healthcare Scientists, Pharmacists, and other health professionals from secondary, primary and community care. Issues relating to psychological health are a common reason or seeking help, often in combination with other factors.
The Authority is inviting bidders to initially provide professional mental health support for doctors and dentists in postgraduate training. The support service is for the provision of specialised psychotherapeutic interventions which embrace all the mainstream modalities of psychotherapy, psychological support, and counselling. The service is intended to provide an initial assessment, and a package of support for those trainees who have psychological distress that is currently at a level that would not be eligible for care from the service provided by NHS Practitioner Health, commissioned by NHSEI for all doctors and dentists in England.
The service will cover London in relation to the geographical remits of HEE London, which includes the local offices North Central and East London, South London, and Northwest London, and HEE Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.
