two.1.4) Short description

Leicestershire County Council (The Council) is seeking to deliver a new demand responsive transport (DRT) service to operate within an 85km2 area to the south west of Leicester through to Hinckley. The area is generally bounded by the M69 motorway to the west and the M1 to the east. In total, residents of 16 communities will be able to access the service.

The contract period will be a minimum of three years, with the transport service commencing early in 2022. The service will be procured through two separate lots - one covering the service operation and the other technological provision.

Please note that the date given at II.3. Estimated date of publication of contract notice is for indicative purposes only. The Council is currently working on the tender documents and the advert is anticipated late July/ early August 2021.

The transport operator will be responsible for delivering the service between 06:00 and 19:30 Monday to Saturday. They will be required to provide three fully accessible, Euro VI-compliant vehicles with a passenger capacity of 13 seats plus one wheelchair space and the ability to provide spare vehicles when any of the dedicated vehicles are unavailable.
