two.1.4) Short description
Blackpool Council and NHS Blackpool jointly commission a Community Equipment Service for Adults and Children across Blackpool, which is administered by Blackpool Equipment Service (BES). Clinical services are provided by Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Nursing Services and Trusted Assessors. The provision of equipment is jointly funded by the Council and NHS Blackpool. Each year, Blackpool Equipment Service purchases a wide range of equipment totalling around 1.2 million pounds. Blackpool Council and Blackpool Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) are seeking to appoint a Supplier/s to supply the following assistive equipment lots.
Lot 1 - Hire of Hoists and Slings - a single supplier to provide a range of hoists and slings (Approx. value 144k pa).
Lot 2 – Hire of Children’s Beds - a single supplier to provide a range of Children’s beds and accessories (Approx. value 60kpa).
Servicing and maintenance of equipment is included in the scope of each lot. Further information is included in the accompanying tender documents for each lot.
The appointed Supplier/s for each lot will:
• Be required to work collaboratively with Commissioners, Blackpool Equipment Service, Clinicians and other partners to deliver an effective, innovative and responsive service.
• Continually review the marketplace identifying new and emerging products, informing and advising Commissioners and Clinicians on those offering best value.

Hire of Hoists and Slings - a single supplier to provide a range of hoists and slings
Approx. 175 hoists are currently on hire and located in client’s homes across Blackpool, although this number fluctuates. The appointed supplier will pick up all new hire agreements. During the last 12 months there have been 139 new hires plus slings and 186 hoists collected. The average hire period of hoists is approx. 40 weeks.

There are currently 59 paediatric beds currently on hire and located in client’s homes although this number fluctuates.
The appointed supplier will pick up all new hire agreements. In the last 12 months there have been 7 new hires and 5 beds collected. The average hire period of beds is approx. 5 years.
