The South West Police Forces wishes to support early return to work and/or full operational duties for operational officers and staff who are suffering with acute musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions or injuries by providing ‘fast track’ physiotherapy assessment and treatment services. MSK absence is one of the largest absenteeism categories and this service is utilised to help manage short term and long term absence.
The objective of having the physiotherapy provision is to provide assistance through rapid access to treatment for MSK injury: to ensure individuals are fit to undertake their role and to promote the physical wellbeing of staff.
This is not a substitute for NHS treatment, but is used to provide quicker response for employees with acute pain before their NHS treatment becomes available.
