Text
As part of the HM Treasury-funded National Core Studies (NCS) on COVID-19, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is leading a portfolio of research projects (collectively known as PROTECT) to increase our understanding of how the virus transmits in different environments and settings. The research is intended to inform policymakers in making decisions to safely move society back towards near-normal operation.
This rapid funding call provides an opportunity for more researchers to join this vital programme and fill a number of outstanding knowledge gaps. The call aims to:
• Enable linkage of other ongoing COVID-19 research to the PROTECT NCS to deliver greater impact in addressing key questions about transmission.
• Inform the near-term UK COVID-19 response, including contributing to the research data and analytical requirements of SAGE and its sub-groups.
• Develop practical approaches to support and sustain a return to near-normal life.
• Make research assets created by the PROTECT NCS accessible to others through evidence synthesis, knowledge management and the creation of legacy resources.
Interested researchers and institutions should consult the full call specification which can be found by registering on HSE's tender portal (https://in-tendhost.co.uk/hse), or at https://documents.manchester.ac.uk/DocuInfo.aspx?DocID=55739.
Specific areas of research interest are outlined in Annex A.
Interested researches and institutions will need to register on HSE's tender portal, link above, to submit their proposal.
