Historic England is calling for proposals from radiocarbon dating laboratories that are interested in collaborating on Historic England's diverse programme of research. This is focused on a wide range of archaeological sites and historic buildings (including those in the care of English Heritage), which forms an ideal testbed for the development of new techniques and their transfer into routine practice in the Historic Environment sector beyond academia.

The objectives of the research project are to develop methods, and undertake exemplary case studies, using high-precision radiocarbon dating by Accelerator Mass Spectrometry. The provision of accurate and precise chronologies for archaeological sites and historic buildings, will help inform their protection, conservation, significance and further appreciation of the Historic Environment in England.
