The provision of Community Equipment is essential in promoting the independence of people of all ages with disabilities. It will often result in a person being able to manage independently without the needs for other services. In some cases it will enable the safe and effective delivery of other services involving support for people with personal care.The broads aims of the CES is to:• Promote independence, safety, social inclusion, quality of life, improved end of life care• Help to give elderly and disabled people control over their own lives• Reduce unscheduled hospital admissions• Reduce A and E attendance• Reduce the length of a hospital stay• Assist with the quality of many quality outcomes for children and adults• Enable people to live at home for longer thereby reducing the need for care home admissions• Improve early years development• Play a key role in the delivery of early intervention and prevention strategies and crisis admissions to high cost services.

The West Sussex Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES) is commissioned through a Partnership between West Sussex County Council (acting as Lead Commissioner) and West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group of Wicker House, High St, Worthing BN11 1DJ. The West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will dissolve at the 30th June 2022 and will become the NHS Sussex from the 1st July 2022.WSCC is the lead for the management of the contract for ICES and act on behalf of WSCC and NHS staff prescribing community equipment from the following organisations:• NHS West Sussex CCG (and its successor organisation NHS Sussex)• West Sussex Primary Care Network• Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust• Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust• Voluntary sector/Private sector/Primary Care Networks• University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation TrustThere will be a virtual bidder briefing event held at 1pm - 2pm on Thursday 19th May 2022.
