London Gateway is uniquely combined with Europe’s largest logistics park (under construction), offering a port centric solution that provides the ideal location, facilities, connectivity, speed, efficiency and reliability that today’s shippers need for their supply chains. London Gateway provides the most efficient link between deep-sea shipping and the largest consumer markets in the UK.

London Gateway intends to tender for the design and construction of the fourth deep-water berth and the associated onshore infrastructure.

The works and trade disciplines within the Lots is as follows:

Lot 1: Civil Works

a) Earthworks, removal of existing surcharge material and ground improvement

b) Heavy duty pavements and other surfacing

c) 10 on shore stacks to be operated by automated stacking cranes (ASCs)

d) Reefer frames

e) Hazardous container storage including pipework and holding tanks for contaminated effluent

f) Fire mains and associated pits and valves

g) Surface water drainage

h) HV, LV and communications conduits/pits

i) LV and HV electrical works including sub-stations, switchgear and transformers

London Gateway are inviting Bidders to consider prequalifying and (and if successful in their prequalification) submitting an offer under Tender for either:

i) the Civil Works (Lot 1);

ii) the Marine Works (Lot 2); or

iii) Both the Civil and Marine Works (Lots 1 and 2).

Bidders shall be required to identify their capabilities in respect of the part of the works they intend to prequalify for.

In order to provide an overview of the Works layout, the London Gateway – Berth 4 General Arrangement Drawing with Reference LGW-098-501 (Rev. 2) is provided for your information.

three.2.2) Contract performance conditions

The Conditions of Contract will be a modified version of the FIDIC “Yellow Book” Conditions of Contract (for Plant & Design-Build). Modifications will include assigning ground risk to the Contractor and the incorporation of a mechanism for payment of the fixed-price lump-sum Contract Sum with interim payments subject to achievement of milestones. The full conditions of contract will be issued with the tender but companies unwilling to accept ground risk and/or accept a fixed-price lump-sum should not seek to pre-qualify.
