KCC has a statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of Kent Children in Care and ensure best value for money it spends on behalf of the Kent population. It also has a statutory responsibility to ensure there is safe and sufficient accommodation for Children in Care.

There is no provision in the contract to extend. Following full analysis of the provision data, market position and engagement with key stakeholders, a Business Case and Commissioning Plan were developed and were due to proceed with Governance in January 2022.
