South Tyneside Council is undertaking market consultation on the proposed model for the provision of day opportunities for adults with dementia. The market consultation consists of a Soft Market Testing Exercise (SMTE) Questionnaire followed by a virtual supplier engagement event. If you are interested in participating please download, complete and return the attached SMTE Questionnaire via the NEPO Portal (https://procontract.due-north.com) by 12 noon 25 June. The SMTE Questionnaire also provides information on how you can register for the supplier event taking place via Microsoft Teams during week commencing 12 July 2021 (exact date/time to be confirmed).

Proposed model of day opportunties:
Continue to provide building-based provision from a pre-determined dedicated site to support those with high dependency needs and offer short breaks for carers
Develop a brokerage model to help better identify the support needs of individuals with dementia, developing new approaches and link with the wider network such as third sector providers.
Develop a bank of Individual support workers to provide activities outside of the home environment who are dementia trained;
Support the development of a network to support the needs of carers;
The creation of development circles of support and friendship groups;
Create volunteering opportunities for people with an interest in dementia and who would be interested in this area of work in the future;
Work with other agencies to provide information advise support and signposting to people with dementia.
