Each year Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council are responsible for ensuring that all gas systems installed within Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Councils housing stock are serviced and checked for their safe operation.

Regulation 36 of the Gas Safety (Installations and Use) Regulations 1998 (Amended 2018) imposes a duty upon Landlords of domestic properties to ensure that gas appliances and flues are maintained in a safe condition, annual safety checks are carried out and appropriate records kept and issued or displayed to tenants. These duties are in addition to the more general ones that

Landlords have under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

Landlord’s failing to comply with these regulations can be liable to prosecution and ensuing penalties. This document details the procedure to ensure Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council have robust systems in place to meet their legislative duty and to gain access to carry out these vital checks.

The terms and Conditions of the contract are aimed at securing a prompt and efficient performance of the works and will be enforced strictly.

Further information on the requirement and relevant performance standards are available within the Specification.

The anticipated contract commencement date is 1st April 2025.

The Council proposes to enter one contract for an initial period of 60 months with a break clause at 36months with the preferred supplier, with an option to extend for a period of 24months, followed by an additional period of 12 month + 12months, making 84 months in total.

Any proposed extension is subject to satisfactory performance by the supplier and in accordance with the Council’s business requirements.

Any proposed extension to the contract will be agreed in writing between the Council and the supplier.

The budget for this contract is £430,000.00 per annum (exclusive of VAT). Potential Suppliers are to note that this is an estimated and not guaranteed annual cost.
