two.1.4) Short description
The laboratory at Thames Water is critical for meeting our regulatory and operational requirements. It encompasses a wide range of activities, including the provision of assurance for the services we deliver to our customers, the community and the environment, all while maintaining UKAS accreditation.
The Thames Water laboratory analyses over half a million samples and generates almost three million results per annum.
The current laboratory facility is approaching the end of its service life and Thames Water are considering a replacement within the next asset management period (AMP), which spans 2025-2030. Combined with a growing demand for laboratory services, operational insights and regulatory requirements there is a generational opportunity to establish a centre of excellence for a future laboratory capability, integrating cutting-edge systems, skilled personnel, and streamlined processes. This initiative aims to fortify our operational resilience, enhance efficiency, and sustain the delivery of life's essential service.
Thames Water is currently considering a range of options for the delivery of a new capability. These range from full ownership and operational responsibilities, to leasing and operating a facility. At present, Thames Water does not envisage a fully outsourced model but are open to understand what opportunities exist across the spectrum of potential delivery models.
This Market Engagement is to help inform options for supply chain delivery of services to deliver a new laboratory capability for Thames Water.
