This joint PhD project, with a One Health focus, looks to fill critical gaps in our knowledge of how the nutritional landscape impacts mosquito immunity, behaviour, and by extension, disease transmission risk. The aim of this research is to conduct controlled studies to determine the direct effect of phytochemicals on pathogens in vitro and in vivo, the effect of nectar feeding on mosquito immunity, vector competence and vectorial capacity.

Explanation:

The Student and Academic Supervisor are affiliated with this university and therefore competition is absent for technical reasons (Regulation 32[2][b][ii]). This is a genuine research project into understanding and managing mosquito-borne viral diseases and the value of the procurement means it falls out of scope of Public Contract Regulations (PCR) 2015.
