Salford City Council (the “Council”) is seeking to install a Hydro Electric Scheme at Charlestown Weir in order to increase local renewable energy generation and increase the flexibility of local energy supply as part of its contribution towards Greater Manchester’s target of becoming a carbon-neutral city region by 2038.
The Contractor will design and construct the scheme in compliance with and in the spirit of consents, so as to minimise the scheme’s impact as a potential obstruction to fish, flood flows and debris, by designing to minimise the accumulation of flotsam, silts and gravels and by explaining the means available to alleviate accumulation which may occur in operation.
Funding is until 30th June 2023.
