Description
The regeneration of the Yorke Drive estate has been a long-term priority for the Council to help address the on-going anti-social behaviour problems across the estate; improve connectivity with the wider locale; and improve the existing sports pitches, to create a safer place for the community to live.
The regeneration team at the Council have recently reached a major milestone in this project, by securing reserved matters planning consent at Planning Committee on 13th February 2025, for 207 dwellings, 74 of which will be affordable houses.
The contract for the removals of tenants on the Yorke Drive estate will be for a maximum of 95 moves, split across 4 phases, over a timeframe of approximately 2 years.
From the 95 moves, 64 wish to remain on the new Yorke Drive development and will be allocated a plot, and 31 wish to leave the Yorke Drive estate. Suitable properties will be sought for these tenants in their areas of preference within the district, of which the most popular location so far being indicated is Newark.
There will likely be a small number of properties which will require support with packing.
We anticipate the removal contract to include and provide the necessary provision of boxes and packing materials to enable the tenants to pack up their belongings, in advance of their move date.
The Council would therefore like to hear from removals providers for their views on this service and to ask them to complete a questionnaire which can be found using the link below.
The deadline for responses is 12 noon Friday 25th April 2025.
