two.1.4) Short description

The Council is committing to undertake fully upgrading the two pumping stations to ensure their long-term future, and ease of ongoing maintenance.

The successful Tenderer will have to demonstrate that they have undertaken works of a similar nature.

The Contractor will be required to undertake the following main elements of work. These works are to be undertaken whilst keeping the pumping stations in operation and bring the current pumping stations up to a good standard: -

i Site Clearance - Disconnect and remove all existing electrical

systems within the pumping stations and dispose off site.

ii Remove all 6 pumps and associated pipework and dispose off site.

iii Design and install new pumps, pipework and electrical equipment in accordance with the employer's requirements.

iv The current lighting system in the stations is to be updated.

v Design and install measures for safe access to the lower level of the Chatham Street station. The existing stairs are steep.

vi Construction Design and Management (CDM) - To undertake the

duties of the Principle Designer and Principle Contractor under

the CDM regulations 2015.

vii The contractor will be responsible to produce the Construction

Phase Plan to comply with regulations 12 and 15.

Viii The stations are to be kept in operation during the upgrading works.

iix To leave both stations in a clean manner and produce a comprehensive operating and maintenance manual with all as built information as well as pump data plates.

• Removal of existing water drainage pumps and equipment and disposal

• Design and installation of pumping station requirements , pump specifications and pipework to fully upgrade an existing pumping station

• Working within a confined space.

• Keeping the existing facilities in operation and flood prevention capabilities whilst upgrading works are undertaken.

• Upgrading an existing lighting system.
