Border Force (BF) secures the border and promotes national prosperity by facilitating the legitimate movement of individuals and goods, whilst preventing those that would cause harm from entering the UK. BF Officers do this by examining freight and passenger services in a range of environments that include but not limited to; freight consignments (maritime & rail), Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) & Load-on, Load (LoLo) vehicles, trailers and motorbikes. X-Ray scanners are used as a method of examination without having to physically open and examine vehicles and enables ports to operate efficiently without interrupting traffic flow.
Border Force is looking to engage with global supply market to understand technological development of X-Ray scanner and explore options for future procurement.

This is a general market engagement event to understand the current supply market of X-Ray scanners for the purpose of security. Border Force is in the process of reviewing its screening capability and ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness is delivered continuously while taking development of technology into account.
The current pipeline projects include screening solutions for below:
Baggage Scanners
Baggage Scanner in a Van
Over Belt Scanners
Pallet Scanners
The Authority is keen to procure Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products, while considering if any specific modifications may be required. The future procurement is planned to be launched by the end of 2023.

Suppliers who are able to offer the required goods and/or maintenance services are requested to send an expression of interest to Jenny Chang, Home Office Commercial at Detectiontechnologyprocurement@homeoffice.gov.uk. Following expressions of interest suppliers will be given access to the event on the Authority's eSourcing portal, where they will be issued with a Non-Disclosure Agreement, to be signed and returned to the Authority, via the eSourcing portal. Once received, the supplier questionnaire will be made available for completion. A virtual Industry Day is currently planned to take place during May/June 2023.
The closing date for expressions of interest is 12:00 on Friday 5th May 2023.
Suppliers will need to register in the first instance on the Authority's eSourcing portal - https://homeoffice.app.jaggaer.com/web/login.html Once registration has been completed suppliers who have expressed an interest will be given access to the event.
