NHS Highland is reviewing its current contractual arrangements, which are due to end during 2022/23, for the provision of Dementia Post Diagnostic Support (PDS) to meet the requirements of Scotland’s National Dementia Strategy, for anyone who has been newly diagnosed with dementia.

The Health Board is looking to determine potential market availability for delivery of Dementia PDS services.

The service is required to deliver the Scottish Government’s commitment that everyone newly diagnosed with dementia is entitled to be offered a minimum of a year’s worth of post diagnostic support, coordinated by an appropriately trained Link Worker. The service will require to operate across North Highland (excluding Argyll and Bute) and be integrated within NHS Highland’s Older Adult Community Mental Health Services to ensure post diagnostic support is available at the point of diagnosis. Link Workers will be required to operate at the Enhanced Dementia Practice Level as defined within the Promoting Excellence Framework; and deliver PDS using the “5-Pillars” model in accordance with the National Dementia Strategy. The service will also be required to provide continuous data reporting to NHS Highland on national PDS indicators.

Provision of PDS should be equitable across North Highland (excluding Argyll and Bute), including for those individuals living in remote and rural areas. Support should be provided both "face to face" and digitally in preference with individual wishes of people accessing the service.

NHS Highland is keen to receive notes of interest from suppliers who may be interested in delivering these services by 5pm on 18 May 2022.

Suppliers that note an interest in this notice may be contacted for market research purposes prior to any future procurement publication.

Please note that this Prior Information Notice is not an invitation to tender, nor is it a formal stage in a procurement process. It is being used as a means to determine market availability.
