The railway industry requires a bespoke sustainable National Weather Management Service to align with delivering a successful and passenger focused operational railway.
The effects of weather on our infrastructure import significant safety risks and the accurate strategic planning of the day to day operations require a weather service that is aligned specifically to industry standards and requirements. The service is required to be able to adapt to any industry changes and recommendations that are derived from formal investigations following weather related accidents / incidents, and new industry challenges that are identified.
Network Rail will be retendering its current National Weather Management Service and would like to gain pre-market intelligence ahead of this.
The purpose of this RFI is to engage with the supply base and request information relating to the existing National Weather Management Service solutions available in the market, specifically this RFI will look to address the following areas
• Identify the existing solutions available in the market
• Identify the functionality and capabilities of the services available in the market
• Identify indicative costs of the software solutions available in the market
• Identify any additional capabilities that Network Rail may have not considered
• Ensure suppliers who are interested in any potential future tender activity relating to this requirement are aware of the procurement platform that will be used, and provide them with the steps to complete qualification to this platform (should they not have already done so)
Please note that any content received via response to this RFI will be used purely for information purposes only and will not be deemed as forming part of any proposed bid now, or any potential future tender.
