During 2022/23, the Council supported a group of young people to access a single-year Level 3 NCFE Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity (540 Hours, Coaching Pathway) a level 2 Diploma in Sport and a single year (2nd year) Extended Diploma in sport and Physical Activity (540hrs Coaching pathway) within the Evesham area. This has proven to be a popular programme. Having completed these qualifications, the level 3 Diploma group requested the opportunity to progress onto the additional modules which form the Level 3 Extended Diploma and the level 2 Diploma group to level 3 Diploma.

In line with the Council’s priorities for Health and Wellbeing, we are keen to promote further opportunities for young people who want to engage in sports and fitness as a career option, recognising the benefits of this not only to physical wellbeing but also mental wellbeing. Alongside opportunities within the wider sports and fitness industry, there is a locally-identified demand for sports coaches to work within school and childcare settings in the arena of PE teaching and out-of-hours sports coaching.
