The aim of the strength and balance training service is to reduce the risk of falls, thereby improving health outcomes and reducing demands on health and social care services. This service offers expert instruction for those at risk of falling to improve their muscular strength and balance to reduce the risk and fear of falls improving individuals' wellbeing and their long-term independence. The service is most used by those who are elderly and frail. The service will be recommissioned and delivered in West, Mid-, Southwest and Southeast Essex.

The aim of the strength and balance training service is to reduce the risk of falls, thereby improving health outcomes and reducing demands on health and social care services. The service is most used by those who are elderly and frail. The service will be recommissioned and delivered in West, Mid-, Southwest and Southeast Essex.

This notice is an intention to award a contract under the competitive process.

The approximate lifetime value of this award will be £3,247,899.

This is an existing service that is being in regions of Essex and now being integrated into a single service across West, Mid-, Southwest and Southeast Essex. The selected provider is an existing provider in one of these regions. This service shall be provided between 1 June 2025 and 30 June 2031.

This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) intention to award notice. The awarding of this contract is subject to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. For the avoidance of doubt, the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 do not apply to this award. The standstill period begins on the day after the publication of this notice. Representations by providers must be made to the authority by 2 April 2025. This contract has not yet formally been awarded; this notice serves as an intention to award a contract under the competitive process of the PSR.

The non-conflicted members have assessed the nature and risk of this conflict, and have decided the following steps to take to avoid or manage it. Exclusion of the nominated evaluator from the scoring panel and replacement with another, non-conflicted member.

The chosen provider was selected due to achieving the highest scores across the key criteria used. The provider has been assessed and passed against the relevant key criteria and basic selection criteria.
