NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership who are hosted by Velindre NHS Trust acting on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board wish to inform the market that they intend to award a contract for the provision of a Sonographer and Health Care Assistant to support Non-Obstetric Ultrasound (NOUS) clinics.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The service will comprise of;

- staff to support clinics

- Confirmation of patient identity, explanation of the procedure to the patient

- Review of patient notes/and Ultrasound request

- Performance of ultrasound scan

- Reporting of scan results as per hospital protocol

The service allows for scans of the following general body parts / areas:

- General abdominal – includes assessment of the aorta, biliary tract, gallbladder, inferior vena cava, kidneys, liver, pancreas, retroperitoneum and spleen;

- Gynaecology – including transabdominal and transvaginal;

- Renal / bladder / prostate;

- Scrotal / testicular.

The Heath Board will provide suitable NHS premises and be responsible for ensuring clinical rooms are booked for clinic sessions. The Health Board will also provide the equipment whilst the provider will ensure all staff are appropriately qualified and put in place supervision arrangements for all levels of staff including induction and clinical supervision.

four.1) Description

Explanation:

The Health Bard require support for their Non-Obstetric Ultrasound (NOUS) clinic sessions with the provision of a Sonographer and Health Care Assistant resource.

Having engaged with the market, it has been determined that GP Care are the only supplier who can provide the appropriately trained staff to these clinics which are located within the Health Board premises, most notably, University Hospital Wales and University Hospital Llandough.

Based on the above, the Health Board is issuing this notice applying a 10 day standstill period prior to award of a contract on a quarterly rolling basis for a one year period.
