There is considerable evidence that addressing health issues in children before they start school and throughout their school lives has significant long-term health, mental health, academic and social benefits to those children and their families. Health education and health improvement, improving the health literacy of our communities, are critical to addressing health inequalities and increasing the life chances of children and young people.
