To provide a mechanism for patients and GP’s to order a swab kit that the patient can self-administer at home.
Following a telemedicine consultation for an acute respiratory illness GPs or patients need to be able to order self-swabbing kits to be dispatched to the patient’s home. (NB the solution must allow for patient requests to be authorised by the GP) The completed tests would be sent by the patient for laboratory testing at and the test results issued to the Service Provider who would then inform the patient.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The purpose of this contract is to provide a mechanism for GP's to authorise a patient, that they have seen through a telemedicine consultation for an acute respiratory illness, to receive a swab kit that they can self-administer. Completed tests would be sent by the patient for laboratory testing (Currently testing is provided by a UKHSA lab). Test results would be issued to the service provider, who would in turn notify both the patient.

Contract Term: Initial 24 months with the option to extend for a further period or periods of up to max term of 60 months or until the max contract value £1.9m is reached

The ceiling price for this contract will not exceed £400k per annum for a maximum contract of five years or until the maximum value of £1.9m is consumed. This is a demand led contract and capped by available budget this would be a contract with a zero-value commitment.

The ceiling price recognises the planned aspirational growth through promotion of this service by UKHSA and RCGP, in collaboration with the supplier, to encourage greater use by GP surgeries. Also, the requirement to cover reimbursement of the sourcing of kit component costs in the future when UKHSA stock is exhausted.
