two.2.4) Description of the procurement
Luton Borough Council will be utilising an accelerated open tender procedure to go out to market to provide a Service for the transportation of Vulnerable Adults and/or SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) Children. This type of Service would include transporting Vulnerable Adults and/or Vulnerable/SEND Children travelling to and from Schools, Day Centres and/or other establishments as part of their agreed social care provision. These people may have a significant disability and/or additional needs therefore some technical equipment or trained personnel may be required. The Service may require a range of Vehicles including cars, people carriers, wheelchair-accessible Vehicles, mini buses and coaches. Passenger Assistants/Escorts may also be required on some routes to provide support to Service Users who have additional needs. Vetting and safeguarding requirements for service providers will be of paramount importance.
