Description
This Preliminary Market Engagement Notice is placed to inform the market of the Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) for NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), Somerset and Devon (the Commissioner's), intention to recommission Healthcare Waste Collection in Primary Care and Community Pharmacy. The Commissioner would like to understand the level of provider interest in delivering these services and requests feedback from experienced organisations using a Market Engagement Questionnaire. The service will provide a Primary Care and pharmacy medical waste collection and disposal/recycling for the 3 ICBs in the South West; •NHS Devon ICB •NHS Somerset ICB •NHS Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire ICB These 3 ICBs are looking to re-procure in the near future (anticipated to be tendered in May-June 2025), all of their current contracts for Primary Care Clinical Waste Collection and disposal/recycling predominantly and Community Pharmacy. The intended service for tender include: 1. Collection & transport of clinical waste and pharmaceutical waste 2. Storage of clinical waste and pharmaceutical waste 3. Treatment of clinical waste and pharmaceutical waste 4. Incineration of clinical waste and pharmaceutical waste 5. Provision of reusable and single use containers for clinical waste and pharmaceutical waste 6. Decontamination of reusable containers for clinical waste and pharmaceutical waste 7. Promoting waste segregation and compliance 8. Clinical waste and pharmaceutical waste tracking and data The purpose of this notice is to provide a summary of the services to be procured, share the service specification and to obtain feedback that will help support a safe, sustainable, environmentally effective and cost-efficient quality service. TUPE may apply to this process. The purpose of this Preliminary Market Engagement Notice is to provide a summary of the services to be procured, share the service specification and to obtain feedback that will help support a safe, sustainable, environmentally effective and cost-efficient quality service. Please register your interest to access the supporting documentation and provide feedback by answering the Market Engagement Questionnaire against this project by 7th of April 2025. Interested providers will be able to view this opportunity via the live opportunities list on the 'Health Family' e-procurement system, Atamis. Click on 'View our Live Opportunities' from the home page, available on the following link: https://health-family.force.com/s/Welcome Once you have found the opportunity (via the search function, using the title or reference number), to gain full access to the relevant information and market engagement questionnaire, you will need to click on 'Register interest' - this will take you to the log-in page. You will find the project titled; Healthcare Waste Services in General Practice and Community Pharmacy with the Atamis reference C342878. The Supplier Documents folder contains the draft service specification and supporting documentation. If you are not already registered on the system, you will need to do so before gaining full access to the documentation and to be able to submit your expression of interest using the correspondence function within Atamis. This event is an information gathering exercise rather than initiating a competitive procurement process; and therefore publication or response does not commit the ICBs or respondents to a future procurement, nor provide any process exemptions or preferential treatment to any parties expressing an interest.
