two.1.4) Short description
Northern Gas Networks are seeking to establish a contract with a single supplier to provide circa 80-100 gas detection units for use on their network. The contract will be awarded for the initial term of 3 years with the option to extend a further 2 x 1 years. The gas detection unit must as a minimum meet the following criteria: • Infrared sensor
• Must have a GPS and Bluetooth Interface as we wish to be able to track the resources route when surveying sites, with the device able to plot both route swept and any readings that are detected on a print out / digital report that can be uploaded to a cloud dashboard
• Colour and audible alarm indicators
• Must be able to detect readings from 1ppm to 100% vol of gas
• Must be able to perform a gas quality check to determine type of gas being detected (mine, swamp, sewer or natural gas)
• Must be able to detect Carbon Dioxide, Methane, Propane, Butane, Hydrogen Sulfide, Carbon Monoxide and Ethane
• Must be ATEX approved as is used in gaseous atmospheres, ideally the devices will be explosion-proof
• Must be portable and light weight, with a clear, easy to read and use display (even in dark / night)
• Will ideally include a strap for carrying around neck
• Must be able to be charged in vehicle
• Must have in vehicle cradle for when in transport
• Must have various attachments for a variation of surveys
o Long handled for reaching heights
o Probe to "pull gas from the ground"
• Needs to be able to be serviced by NGN resources, thus keeping running costs down
• Needs to be able to go several months without needing to be calibrated, thus negating monthly visits to the depot for all operational resources - this will also save on gasses to calibrate seekers, which further reduce running costs
