NHS England wish to conduct market engagement with relevant industry providers in relation to the delivery of the Secure Data Environment (SDE) Network envisaged by the Data for Research & Development (R&D) programme.
Secure Data Environments are data storage, access, and analysis platforms, which facilitate high standards of privacy and security of NHS health and social care data when used for research and analysis.
Our vision is to have an ecosystem of heterogenous, inter-operable SDE's built on open-standards and open-code (as far as possible), such that vendors and industry providers are encouraged to compete on cost and capability in supporting the creation of a world-leading research service. NHS England wishes to engage with industry on how they can respond to this challenge for the benefit of the NHS and the country.
As a future strand of this engagement, the programme would like to explore cost-effective procurement options in the case that multiple SDEs select the same provider to provide a particular capability/service.
NHS England would like to hear from technology vendors, service providers and systems integrators who have expertise (or an interest) in supplying capability to SDEs, and/or contributing to an open-source project for a framework for NHS SDEs.
All industry providers are invited to attend an initial briefing call via MS Teams with NHS England SDE programme leads on Friday 21st April at 13.30 to 14:15.
Following the briefing call, NHS England will host an in-person/ virtual engagement session with industry providers, on Tuesday 2nd May 2023 (time and venue TBC).
Action: To receive an invite for the briefing call and engagement session, please register your interest via https://health-family.force.com/s/Welcome by 17.00 18th April 2023.
An agenda will also be provided for both the 21st of April 2023 and 2nd of May 2023 after registration.
NHSE will provide copies of the briefing slides for any supplier unable to attend upon request, via the Health Family Atamis Portal to receive a copy.
Following the briefing call and engagement session, there will be a continued period of engagement for providers to help shape the delivery approach and procurement strategy for the SDE network and Subnational SDE Programme.
