INTENTION TO AWARD
The aim of the NHS AAA Screening Programme is to reduce AAA-related mortality in service users who are eligible by detecting aneurysms at an early stage, ensuring appropriate surveillance and referral if required, and improving outcomes. This is through the provision of a systematic population-based screening programme for men and individuals assigned male gender at birth during the year, 1st April to 31st March, in which they turn 65 and, on request, for men over 65 years.
The Relevant Authority intends to award contracts for the above Lots to existing providers under Direct Award C under the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023.
The Relevant Authority are undertaking a DAP C to award Greater Manchester, East Cheshire and Glossop Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Services to the existing provider. The services will commence on 01 April 2025 with the contract concluding on 31 March 2028. The lifetime value of the contract is £2,376,360.

Representations by providers must be made to decision makers by midnight 8 days following the publication of this transparency notice/ commencement of the standstill period - midnight on Thursday 27 March 2025 . This contract has not yet formally been awarded; this notice serves as an intention to award under the PSR.

The key criteria was considered within the award criteria which was laid out in the procurement documents. The existing providers are satisfying the existing contracts and will likely satisfy the proposed new contracts. The providers have been assessed and passed against the relevant 5 key criteria and mandatory requirements.
There have been no conflicts of interest identified, and the COI process has complied with NHSE Policy in line with regulation 21.
The AAA service annual value after all 24-25 uplifts is £792,120.
