This Prior Information Notice is to notify the market that the Shared Rural Network programme for Total Not Spots plans to enter into a pre-market engagement exercise with potential suppliers for the provision of Transmission and Backhaul to / from telecoms mast base station sites, to assist DMSL and the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in developing their procurement strategy for the supply of these elements and to help inform the technical and service elements to support that strategy.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

This Prior Information Notice is to notify the market that the Shared Rural Network Programme (SRN) plans to enter into a market engagement exercise to discuss its potential requirements with potential suppliers in the market of provision of services and products for Transmission and Backhaul to / from telecoms mast base station sites to assist DMSL and the MNOs in developing their procurement strategy for the supply of these elements and to help inform the technical and service elements to support that strategy.

The market engagement exercise does not form part of the potential procurement process or obligate DMSL or the MNOs into forming a commercial strategy in a particular form.

The total not spots (TNS) element of SRN will use public funds to build new mobile sites offering 4G services from all UK mobile operators. These sites will deliver mobile coverage to areas of the UK that currently have no 4G coverage from any operator (Total Not Spots).

DMSL is managing this RFI on behalf of the UK Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).
