This is a voluntary ex ante transparency notice and is intended to provide notice of the Authority's intention to award a short term interim contract to deliver a Clinical Waste Contract.
The ICB intends to award the contract for the delivery of these services to SRCL Limited t-a Stericycle.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement
This notice is made by the Contracting Authority; NHS Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board (hereinafter referred to as "the Authority") in compliance with their local standing financial instructions (SFIs) to notify the market of the intention to award a contract to deliver a short term 4 month contract to SRCL Limited t-a Stericycle for Clinical Waste Services.
The total contract value for 4 months is £180,000. It is proposed that the term of this new contract will be 4 months, with services running from 1 April 2025. This contract will then revert to a 1 month rolling arrangement to allow for the contract to be extended and ceased as required.
The Authority will observe a 10-day standstill from the date of publication of this VEAT, during which the Authority will not enter into any contractual arrangement.

A procurement process has been undertaken and the award decision has been challenged. This has prevented final award and therefore requires a short term contract with the existing provider to ensure that there is a continuation of vital services for primary care settings (GP's and Pharmacy) whilst this challenge is resolved.
The Authority believes competition is absent for the technical reasons outlined above and the potential for patient harm and disruption.
