Hedges have multiple functions within the estate landscape including providing screening, privacy and boundary demarcation. Good horticultural maintenance of the hedge contributes to the quality of the surroundings. They also contribute to the individuality of each area. The number and size of hedges are significant across the city and have been divided into packages by area to ensure manageability of the work. Packages vary from around 2,000m2 to 20,000m2. Sheffield City Council is seeking a supplier / number of suppliers to be placed on a framework for up to 4 years for hedge cutting services.
