Explanation:

The units are widely used within the National Time Scale group and have been shown to perform at the required specification.

Other market units do not meet performance requirements, or have not been extensively tested by NPL to ensure quoted specifications are met.

The units will be like for like replacements of existing units, or existing designs, which is required for compatibility with existing systems, and design for future systems – use of different units would require significant rework of designs and unfeasible.
