The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) have a requirement for a contractor to provide servicing and maintenance of all Microbiological Safety Cabinets (MSCs) and Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEVs).

This PIN is to make the potential supply market aware of this opportunity which will be advertised for tender (expected to be advertised April-May 2022).

APHA Weybridge, Surrey, for majority of the Services with Services also required at APHA regional laboratories.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

APHA requires the provision of a service and maintenance contract for MSCs, laminar flow cabinets, flexible film isolators and downdraft tables. The services will include Preventative Maintenance visits and Corrective Maintenance visits, to be carried out on-site as and when required. The use of MSCs and associated LEV equipment is essential for APHA to undertake all of its scientific activities as part of the Defra priority to protect Great Britain from plant and animal diseases.

It is critical for APHA to service, test and maintain the Equipment to ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation (Health and Safety at Work etc, Act, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations). It ensures APHA controls the risk from exposure to hazardous pathogens or chemicals.
