The University is looking to install a new high-performance Strength & Conditioning (S&C) gym at our Cyncoed Campus. We currently have circa 250 student-athletes in our performance programmes across a range of sports including rugby, football, basketball, hockey, netball and triathlon. Access to S&C training forms a key part of our overall performance support package and is crucial in driving our on-field performances.
In addition to our student programmes we also partner with national governing bodies of sport to deliver a number of national performance training centres/programmes from our facilities and deliver S&C as part of these partnerships.
We are therefore seeking to purchase a range of high specification training equipment to support our athletes as they prepare for national and international competitions.
The equipment will be required for a new strength and conditioning gym that will be housed within a new semi-permanent structure that is yet to be built. The construction of that structure and associated groundworks is the subject of a separate procurement and obtaining the required planning permission. Bidders should therefore note that if planning is refused, that the construction of the new gym will not proceed and we will not purchase the gym equipment.
