two.1.4) Short description

The Authority provides the services from a new Specialist emergency care Hospital, the first of its type in the country, through three acute hospitals located in Ashington, Hexham and North shields. It provides community healthcare through its seven community hospitals located throughout the area and also community services in a significant number of properties throughout the geographical area. The Authority has a wholly owned subsidiary, Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management Ltd ("NHFM"). This organisation, manages all of the hard and soft FM services for the trust this includes the purchase of all Trust energy and utilities requirements. The Authority intends to establish a utilities partner framework and also anticipates being the first public sector framework user to draw down a service from the framework, upon completion of the framework accreditation process. This framework will be available to all public sector bodies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS foundation trust provides patient care to a large geographical area covering all of Northumberland and North Tyneside, this covers and area between Berwick in the north, to Tynemouth in the south of the area and extending as far as Hexham in the west, excluding the city of Newcastle upon Tyne.The Authority provides the services from a new Specialist emergency care Hospital, the first of its type in the country, through three acute hospitals located in Ashington, Hexham and North shields.
