two.2.4) Description of the procurement

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP), in Collaboration with the Respiratory Health Implementation Group and the acting lead Authority Cardiff and Vale University Health Board are undertaking a procurement on behalf of Local Health Boards in Wales to procure bespoke licensing to a system that will integrate the existing hardware located across Wales into the Welsh Clinical Portal (WCP).

Currently there is no integration between lung function results and WCP, so these results are not available when patients are seen in clinic. This inevitably results in repeat testing which is wasteful and low value.

Almost all lung function departments in Wales have independently purchased equipment from the same provider (Vyaire), who have a software system called Sentrysuite which can be configured to meet the NHS Wales Standards for Ordering and Reporting integration with the NHS Wales National Architecture. Having one system for Wales that meets these standards will improve information governance and data sharing, standardisation of test reports and data monitoring.

Due to the compatibility reasons between the hardware and software no other provider would be able to support this integration.
