two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Since 2018/19 an urgent treatment centre has been provided on the Princess Alexandra NHS Trust site. Initially this was provided by Stellar Healthcare, however, in 2019 this contract was awarded to Comissceo. The Urgent Treatment Centre currently operates between 0730 and Midnight, although over the last two years these hours have varied with the service being available until 0200. It is open over 365 days per year.

It is essential that the Urgent Treatment Centre at Princess Alexandra NHS trust works collaboratively with all stakeholders within the Integrated Care board to deliver outstanding urgent treatment centre services to the population within West Essex, and that it operates as part of the overall evolving urgent and emergency care strategy for the local health economy. Pathways from NHS 111, GP OOH and EAAST are of key importance as are referral routes on to GP extended hours and community and other services. The Princess Alexandra UTC provider will be expected to be a full and active participant in the Urgent Care Board, ED Specialty and Urgent and Emergency Board and other committees and board as appropriate. There is also an expectation of participation in regular contract management meetings.
