NWSSP are currently in the planning stages of the renewal for the Surgeons Gloves agreement. It is the intent of this PIN notice to determine the regulatory and technical abilities within the Surgeons Gloves market.

The current agreement is for the provision of Surgeons Gloves for the following requirements: Latex surgical gloves & under gloves, Enhanced sensitivity latex surgical gloves & under gloves, Enhanced grip latex surgical gloves & under gloves, Polychloroprene surgical gloves & under gloves, Enhanced sensitivity polychloroprene surgical gloves & under gloves, Enhanced grip polychloroprene surgical gloves & under gloves, Polyisoprene surgical gloves & under gloves, Enhanced sensitivity polyisoprene surgical gloves and under gloves, Enhanced grip polyisoprene surgical gloves & under gloves and Polyisoprene & polychloroprene surgical gloves & under gloves.

The current agreement has been awarded on the basis of a multi-supplier framework.

NWSSP procurement Services have not yet determined whether the renewal for the Surgical Gloves agreement will be awarded utilising the same lotting or framework structure as we are still in the planning stages.

six.3) Additional information

As part of the initial planning stages for the Surgeons Gloves agreement NWSSP Procurement are looking at including the following requirements as part of the Technical portion of the tender.

In order to gauge the quality of information available from the suppliers within the surgical glove market, NWSSP Procurement would like to understand the supporting information suppliers are able to provide that meet the following proposed requirements:

The desirable requirements is that Suppliers are able to provide the below for all items tendered.

We require test reports to support provider claims of compliance to the following:

· EN 455-1:2020+A1:2022 Requirements and testing for freedom from holes.

· EN 455-2:2015 Requirements and testing for physical properties.

· EN 455-3:2023 Requirements and testing for biological evaluation – Residual Powder.

· EN 455-3:2023 Requirements and testing for biological evaluation - Extractable Protein (Only for Latex containing products).

Requirements for submitted EN 455 test reports

The EN 455 test reports listed above, must have the following requirements:

· Samples tested and reports produced by independent ISO 17025 accredited test laboratories i.e. laboratories must not be internal to manufacturer or suppliers.

· Laboratories must be accredited to perform the above EN 455 tests.

· Testing must have been performed within 18 months.

Please note test certificates or Declaration of Conformity statements will not be accepted in place of test reports.

Sterility

For all sterile gloves, we require evidence of notified body involvement in the sterilisation process (e.g. Annex V certificate for EU MDD or Annex XI for EU MDR) that is valid and in date at the time of this notice. Re-issued certificates relating to sterility will be requested if any expire throughout the lifetime of tender.

This is information gathering exercise in order to understand the technical and regulatory ability of the suppliers within the Surgeons Gloves market and therefore NWSSP requirements may change prior to the publication of the Surgical Gloves tender where part of the above requirements may be omitted or expanded on. Full details on final requirements will be included within the ITT when published.
