KCC currently runs the Eleven Plus for Kent Schools programme which aims, principally through testing, to identify pupils in the top 25% of the ability range, as eligible for admission to Year 7 of any of the county’s grammar schools at age 11.
The materials and services procured enable the Council to provide an academic assessment at age 11 in the child’s transitional year from primary to secondary school. The assessment is provided for approximately 18,000 children - typically 12,000 pupils from Kent schools and 6,000 external candidates. The programme is delivered in a time frame which allows it to meet its statutory obligations with regard to the co-ordination of secondary school admissions across schools and academies and across neighbouring Local Authorities.
