Only Registered Farriers, Approved Farriery Apprentices or persons undergoing Farriers Registration Council approved courses, Veterinary Surgeons or trainee Veterinary Surgeons working under supervision and persons giving first aid in an emergency situation to a horse may practice farriery legally.
It is a criminal offence for anyone other than those listed above to carry out farriery. Any person undertaking work under this contract must be a registered Farrier.
Due to the specialism of GMP horses, any person undertaking work on this contract must also hold a level 5 qualification, or higher, in farriery e.g Associateship of the Worshipful Company of Farriers, Diploma Higher Education (DipHE) in farriery as set out in the register.
