Coventry City Councils Work-Related Learning Service (WRL) has supported the use of Vocational training courses, bespoke courses, and personalised packages of education for Coventry's schools in enabling Coventry's young people to access the education that they require.
Based on existing service intelligence it has become increasingly apparent, that there is a need to develop the service provision further. The proposal is to deliver one central DPS and improve on the existing service offer and focus on increasing vocational courses, Social Development, Transition Courses, Core Curriculum, and Specialist Provisions.

These are courses that will be for young people that require support for particular areas of development. The WRL Service will advertise the availability and full course details at any given time, to allow schools to access/call-off for their young people. These courses are split into the following Lots;

The Local Authority will create a "pseudo Dynamic Purchasing System" under the Light Touch Regime (based on CCS guidance) and have set out clearly how we intend to operate the DPS from the outset through the OJEU notice and DPS Application documentation. This meets the duty of transparency and equal treatment, which are the main guidelines to follow when setting up an LTR agreement.
Lot 1 - Vocational Courses - Designed for students of all abilities, with an inclusive approach. The aim of the Vocational courses is for students to work towards and achieve accreditation, increase their skills, and enable them to adapt to a working environment. Band 1 covers all courses which fall between £2000 - £2500 per course* to deliver.
*Calculated on 38 days service delivery - 1 student, 1 day per week, for 1 academic year - 38 Weeks.

Lot 6 - Specialist Provisions - Enabling schools/academies to request specialist provisions as required. There are many training providers who are specialists in specific areas in learning and development, who will create a bespoke course when there is demand. This process designs the provision around demand, working towards identified desired outcomes. This Lot will allow for a Mini Competition exercise at the point of referral.
