two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The authority is seeking a supplier capable of providing a DNA Parentage Testing Service.

The overarching qualifying standards set for this opportunity are:

- To be accredited by the Ministry of Justice as a body that may carry out parentage tests directed by the civil courts in England and Wales under section 20 of the Family Law Reform Act 1969.

- To be registered as DNA gatekeeper - having the ability to submit profiles to the National DNA database in order to secure evidence which supports criminal prosecutions.

- Comply with the Human Tissue Act 2004, the Human Tissue (Scotland) Act 2006 and the Human Tissue Authority's Code of Practice on Consent.

- Comply with the Department of Health's Good Practice Guide on Paternity Services and the Data Protection Act.
